January 2006 Outing
By Sally McKay
2006 got off to a flying start with 83 rigs attending the January rally. The weather cooperated and the weekend was beautiful.
Thursday night there was a pot luck dinner for the early birds. Friday and Saturday we dad our happy hours, followed by our catered meals and, as always, nobody went hungry.
After dinner on Friday we had our first ever Winnebago/Itasca races and there was a great deal of excitement as we all gathered around to support our favorite motor home.
At the general membership meeting on Saturday we discussed all the plans for the March Rally and it promises to be an exciting, fun-filled rally. There are a many new vendors and the seminars and exhibits should be enjoyable for all.
Also, at the general meeting we voted for the charity we want to support this year and, overwhelmingly, the votes went to the American Cancer Society in support of breast cancer.
The slate of officers for this coming year were voted upon and they are as follows:
Bud and Paula Geng
The officers will be installed in March.
Jeanie Beckner (Suncoast Winnies) made a quilt inscribed with the names of female cancer patients with breast cancer and this quilt will be raffled off at the March rally.
Saturday afternoon we had our annual garage sale and everyone had an opportunity to sell off their white elephants. It was a fun filled two hours.
Saturday night after dinner many of us went to Old Town where we enjoyed the old cars and many activities that reminded us of days gone by.
