March 2006 State Rally

Wednesday night Bingo was well attended. Everyone had a good time, especially the winners.

Thursday:  President Bud opened the Rally with the Mil-Wits Honor Guard followed by The National Anthem led by Ted Meekma.  Bud introduced Dennis & Bev Burkholder and the Southeast Area Reps, Dick and Mikki Dodge.

Lunch was sponsored by Suncoast RV.

Our badges had animals and birds.  At dinner Thursday and Friday nights you had to match your badge with the one on a table.  It was a good mixer.  Saturday Night we sat by chapters.

Thursday, Friday and Saturday we had many seminar presentations.  There was something for everyone.  The vendors had a varied selection of wares.  Thank you Nancy Miller!  We had 4 RV dealers.

Thursday's dinner was sponsored by Al's Motor Homes & Trailer Sales.  After the entertainment the Money Hat drawing was held.

Friday morning began with a continental breakfast.

Friday's delicious corned beef and cabbage dinner was sponsored by Lazy Days RV.  Everyone was Irish for the evening.

After the entertainment we had the drawing for the Money Hat.  Robert Mahan, PA, was the winner.

Saturday we had a catered breakfast.  So we could start enjoying the day.  Some of us went to the Flea Market before the Vendors opened.

We had something different this year.  Florida Park Rangers had a booth and gave seminars on the many Parks in Florida.  They had brochures and books showing the facilities of each park.

Saturday afternoon we had some four footed guests from Horseshoe Creek Wild Life Foundation.  They brought a baby alligator, a rare monkey and a 9 month old Tiger cub for us to see.  After the presentation, we took pictures and for a donation you could feed the cub his bottle and have your photo taken with him.  It was exciting to hug him.

The wine and cheese party brought everyone to the vendor's hall, sponsored by Farm & City Insurance.  A good time was had by all.

Saturday Dinner was sponsored by Harberson-Swanston RV, was preceded with the Invocation by Barbara King, followed by the Pledge of Allegiance.

After dinner we had a roll call of states.  We also had guests from Canada, Norway & Nova Scotia.

Dennis Burkholder then installed President Bud and Paula Geng.  Dick Dodge did the honors for Dan & Linda Tuzzollo, 1st VP, Eugene & Nancy Vanaman, 2nd VP, Barbara & Pete Schmittzeh, Treasurer, and Marie & Bill Franzen, Secretary.

One mystery person had a Snipe on their badge.  You had to find tahe person wearing the badge to win a prize.  Snipe prize winners were Jim Allen, Coral Gables, Joan Weber, Caloosa Winnies, Dave Marshal, Mil-Wit.  Door prize winners: Ariel Shadoan, MI; John Frank, CY; Virgin Van Der Vlugt, South Florida; Joan Smith, South Florida; Courtney Comeau, MA.

The Car of Cheer wassponsored by Caloosa Winnies.  The winner was Jim Hall, Austin, TX

Saturday's "Mystery Hat Lady" Joe Sholtes was a riot in his Hat, Bag & Hawaiian style dress.  The winner of his Hat was W. L. Herndon, South Florida.

The winner of the Quilt for Breast Cancer Research was Joan Comeenes, Souix Falls, SD.  This embroidered quilt was made and donated by Jeanne Beckner, Suncoast Winnies.

Saturday Night was a lot of fun.  Everyone enjoyed the evening.

Sunday a continental Breakfast was served.  At 10 O'clock we had our General membership meeting, said our good-bys and went to prepare our coaches for travel.
