FLORIDA STATE WINNIE GATORS

May 2009 outing

May 15 – 17, 2009 the Florida State Winnie Gators meeting was held at Rally Park, Seffner, Florida with 60 coaches in attendance.  Several members arrived for early days and enjoyed Happy hour on Thursday, May 14th and the chance to visit with each other.

Friday morning at 11:00am several members brought items for a Flea Market. Some items changed hands and it was a good opportunity to shed some unused items. At 2:00pm the Board of Directors convened to discuss the items that would be presented to the membership on Saturday. At 4:00pm Happy Hour was kicked off with adult beverages and snacks donated by members. A 50/50 raffle was held, then a wonderful dinner was served by Rainbow Caterers. The remainder of the evening was spent playing games and cards.

Saturday morning breakfast was served and the food was great as usual. The General Membership meeting was held at 10:00am with several items on the agenda including presentations of charities for membership vote. The Florida Sheriff’s Youth Ranch was the majority choice. This organization supports troubled youth with guidance opportunities.

The afternoon activity was “Toilet Paper Olympics”, 8 games of luck and skill all played with rolls of toilet paper! The contestants were given score cards and they were off and running. It was fun for all!

Happy Hour commenced at 3:30pm with the “Raffle Chicks & Raffle Roosters” making their debut to sell tickets for the prizes on display. Corinne & Pete Wightman, Gail & Gary Darner were joined by Damaris Travers (the Original Raffle Babe) and Mike Sofarelli . Everyone had a great time buying tickets! The prizes were drawn then dinner was served at 6:00pm. The Medals Ceremony took place for the winners of the “Olympics”, then cards and games were on tap for the rest of the evening.

Sunday morning breakfast donuts, bagels and croissants were served as we prepared to say our goodbyes. If you’re traveling in our area please join us! Check “Who’s Inviting Travelers”  for our schedule!
